The centrepiece of the MAS swords is the Japanese blade made from L6 high-performance steel. This is finished in South Korea and assembled with the other components to form a complete sword, creating a sword of the highest quality at a price that is second to none.

L6 is a modern industrial steel with the best properties: it is light yet stable, hard but not brittle and hardly bends at all.
These are all properties that you want in a sword, but which other types of steel do not offer in this combination.
L6 is difficult to process and this is precisely where MAS's special skills lie. Because heat treatment resulting in a usable, differential-hardened blade has so far only been achieved by the well-known master blacksmith Howard Clark and MAS.

The other components of MAS swords are of course also of the highest quality. However, the focus is on the cutting ability of the blades.
The Matsu Katana in the Competition Edition also has a red grip band, black seeds, blackened menuki in the look of the gunto menuki and a saya with a black high-gloss finish.
